ACTION, ADVENTURE, FLYING CARS and gigantic robots; Chrome: Specforce is a game that attempts to take on futuristic planet colonisation. The original game, Chrome, was released in 2003. Chrome: Specforce is the sequel. Not much is known about this game developed by Techland. We are about to remedy that situation.
The basic outline of the story all revolves around a futuristic military-like organisation called the 'F.E.C' or Federal Expeditionary Corps. Think 'Galactic Empire' but on a much smaller scale and you'll have the F.E.C. Your role in this game is playing a character that is a member of the 'Specforce' which is tasked with the unsavoury job of 'cleaning up the trash of the universe that is the F.E.C', or something along those lines. Basically, you're the good guy that gets rid of the F.E.C bad guys.
The problem is that the so-called 'trash' that you need to dispose of isn't about to go quietly. Somehow, the F.E.C soldiers you're fighting have managed to get hold of a mysterious substance that enhances their ability to fight, gives them super-human strength and just happens to make them fearless. You've certainly got your work cut out for you, in more ways than one.
All is not lost, however. The big boys at the top of the Specforce food chain realise the complications of such a task. To help you achieve your goal of making the universe super-duper clean, you are equipped with a special suit of body armour which is technically enhanced. There are some pretty neat things going on inside this suit and you get to play with them all! 'Neural Booster' which is a biochemical stimulator that directly affects the central nervous system. It noticeably speeds up reaction time to external stimuli due to the increased frequency of electrical impulses transmitted to the brain. You also have the ability to perform super human feats of physicality such as moving fast (a little like the flash except not so blurry), jumping ridiculously high and my personal favourite; camouflage. Now the odds seem a little more balanced, don't they?
The storyline/plot for Chrome: Specforce does seem a little dated or replicated or both. Nothing too original is going on here. Kill some bad guys, increase the body count, and move to the next mission. If you're the type of person that doesn't mind repetitiveness in your games, you'll be a happy camper.
