Tak 2: Staff of Dreams

By (22 June 2005)

Summary
Tak 2: Staff of Dreams

Ups: Tak 2: Staff of Dreams is a powerhouse of exciting and impressive graphics and animation. Great for kids and adults may find the puzzles along the way interesting enough to keep them occupied.

Downs: Some of the movement within the game can be restrictive and cumbersome. Dream world sequences can be a little confusing.

Bottom Line: Staff of Dreams is a great sequel to its predecessor and will more than likely keep the smiles on those young faces for a few hours. Well worth the buy for a whole heap of crazy, animated fun and magic.

Overall rating: 3.5 out of 5 fists   Very Good

TAK 2: STAFF OF Dreams is the sequel to Tak and the Power of Juju. If the title of this game isn't enough to get you wondering, then be prepared for a whacky ride as Tak takes you through a fun filled journey of the strange and wonderful.

It's apparent early on that this game was primarily designed for the younglings amongst us. That doesn't mean you can't share the console with your kids every now and then and have a bash. The basic storyline is all about saving a damsel in distress and working your way through puzzles to get to her as you go. Simplistic in its design, Tak 2: Staff of Dreams is easy to play.

Starting off you will be introduced to the tutorial level of the game where you can learn all about movement, obstacles and how to manoeuvre your way through the world. This is an important phase of the game because movement at first is a little tricky so spend some time getting used to the controls and view.

To progress through the game, Tak 2 is all about collecting things to increase skills or abilities as you progress so it's important that you take the time to do this. There are all sorts of artefacts that Tak can collect along the way.

One of the distinctive parts of Tak 2 is the dream world sequences where Tak must adventure through the dream world to get to the Princess. This is a portion of game play where some of the visual highlights of the game shine through and the animation in Tak 2 overall is quite well done, albeit a little disorientating. In order for Tak to escape the dream world, he must save the Princess or forever be trapped there.
