Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003

Ups: Graphics and sound impeccable with the work done by NVIDIA and ATI. Realisim is at an all time high and game simulation is smooth. Game tutorial is in-depth and concise.

Downs: Made for the true golf enthusiast in mind. Not alot to offer those without a genuine interest in Golf.

Bottom Line: This game couldn't get any better for Golf fans - Tiger Woods PGA 2003 offers golfing heaven on a disk.

Overall rating: 4 out of 5 fists   Great

TIGER WOODS. THE NAME is synonymous with the professional golfing arena. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 not only gives you the opportunity to experience game play from behind the golf club of the golfer himself, but you can also compete against the champion and a variety of other famous pro golfers, putting your way to victory.

The secret to golf is in the timing and the execution. Okay, so Pro Golf may not be everyone's ideal way to spend a few hours, but for the golfer at heart this game really expands the horizons. All you really have to do is, well, win and win consistantly.

Installing the game can be a bit tedious. Put aside at least 15 to 20 minutes. At full install the game sits at just under 1.5 gigabytes so have at least this much spare hard drive space before install. One of the greatest features of this game has to be the tutorial, so its well worth waiting for. It is highly recommended for new players to the Tiger Woods games to spend some time familiarising yourself with the tutorial.

To receive the full enjoyment of this game, the tutorial will allow you to create a player of your own design by choosing from the appearance, equipment and attributes tabs. At this point you are allocated a total cash pool of $3,500.00 to start. EA are pretty generous guys considering you're at amateur level. The cash on hand will be put to good use once you're inside the world of Tiger Woods.

Moving on from creation we are ready to start on the path to glory. The Career menu allows you to choose between tournaments, practice shots, or if your'e not feeling too competitive, you can also take lessons to get a feel for the game. You can even edit your player and view your winning trophies from this menu. Navigation around the menus is pretty easy to pick up.

Once you have decided which path to take, you can begin playing. Of course, for those of us less familiar with golfing techniques, it might be a good idea to start off slow with some practice shots and putts. You can even invest in your player by obtaining better skill sets as well. So the more money you have on hand, the more practices you can have and eventually the more expansive your skill range will become. Game enough to take on Tiger or in need of some quick tips, either way, you're on your way to the PGA.

The other main gameplay option is the Play Golf option. From this menu you can choose from a variety of different game types such as Tour Challenge, Shootout and Scramble devised for two to four players. Again, the options are endless and it really is worth your while to try a few of these out for fun. What about trying out your luck online? It's all possible with Tiger Woods PGA 2003 multiplayer mode.

The predecessor to this game left much to be desired. Tiger Woods PGA 2003 fills in all the gaps previously left by 2002. Graphically, TW PGA 2003 is extremely well done, with attention to detail being fully applied by EA and the crew. If you're a competitive person by nature, you will really enjoy playing this game. And the prize pools are pretty generous if you can pull it off. With the edition of several new Pro golf courses and the crisp graphics and sound work by partners such as NVIDIA and ATI, EA have really come together on this project to make the gamers golfing experience as realistic and above all, as much fun as possible. With direct consultation from Tiger Woods himself, you couldnt have a better crew behind the creation of this golfing masterpiece.
