THERE AREN'T THAT MANY people around who don't feel any desire whatsoever to become some sort of secret agent. Travelling all over the globe, infiltrating enemy bases, driving high-powered sports cars and spending much of the time sleeping with your enemy's wife. OK, so maybe that isn't what real secret agent work is about, but this is the way of life if you intend to be James Bond. Rather than rehashing the rather unfortunate title Tomorrow Never Dies, Electronic Arts have put in a sterling effort in creating a first person shooter based on the movie The World is Not Enough. Sterling though it is, this effort was not enough either.
The player starts off taking part in one of eleven missions, which follow very closely along the storyline of the film without neglecting some original additions to the plot to make it a more tasty experience all round. The mission objectives can vary quite a bit too, from an all-out shooter to a stealth-based crawl around an enemy complex. In a couple of levels the player must even avoid enemy contact completely, and in some ways this can be harder than those levels that have Bond seriously outnumbered by armed assailants.
The usual Q gadgets are available, including neat toys such as the cell phone stunner (which also has a fingerprint scanner), grappling hook watch, metal detector disrupter, rocket launcher camcorder, night vision glasses and the ever popular credit card lockpick. Bond has no shortage of firearms during his assignments either. Along with his usual silenced pistol he can gather up an arsenal including a number of different shotguns and automatic weapons.
