Ups: Plenty of good humour, anyone looking for a laugh should enjoy it; same addictive multiplayer qualities of classic titles like Bomberman; huge arsenal of weaponry available.

Downs: Foul language and extreme violence will stop many parents from buying this one for their youngsters; strategy elements are still not as good as Command and Conquer: Red Alert; graphics are fairly basic.

Bottom Line: While it looks like a game aimed at children, there is no way a parent should even consider buying this one unless they intend to keep it to themselves. Good fun with a group of friends.

THE STORY IS SIMPLE. One day in the peace-loving society of the Buddies a large ship coasts over the land. From this ship drops a number of crates that liberally scatter across the surrounding area. The Buddies' curiosity get the better of them, and as they open the crates they discover all manner of new toys to play with (namely uzis, rocket launchers, grenades, chain guns, and tanks among other things). Not longer after this event the Buddies have become a war-like race mowing each other down in barrages of gunfire and explosions. Don't you just love in-depth story lines?
It has been in the works for months and only now have we the opportunity to play the cute and yet violent game that is Team Buddies. The game takes the same multi-player premise used in older games such as Poy Poy and Bomberman, and creates an all-new cutesy strategy title. The Buddies are actually small ovular people (not unlike the wobbly weebles) with hands and feet like Rayman (ie. no limbs). The player must take control of a team of these sadistic little beasties and, while managing the team resources (in the form of small yellow and orange crates), crush the enemy into submission using a veritable arsenal of weaponry.
By stacking the crates the Buddies can create new weapons ranging from something as small as an uzi submachine-gun, to much larger flame-throwers and even tanks. When the Buddies finally engage each other in combat all hell tends to break loose with explosions and screams aplenty spattering the countryside. There are around eight different worlds to wreak havoc upon, with over sixty missions to complete in one player mode (for those players with no friends). Up to four players can take place in the battles via a split-screen mode in a variety of contests (capture the flag, bombball, or just all-out deathmatch destruction of the other forces).
