WITH MINIMAL FANFARE AND only a few short months since the release of SingStar Rocks!, the announcement that another title in the popular 'home karaoke' franchise was imminent came as something of a surprise. It shouldn't have: with SingStar's winning formula of iconic tracks and co-operative/competitive gameplay well-established, the framework was already in place to churn out disc after disc in quick succession... which is apparently what Sony has done in the case of SingStar Anthems.

On this latest title you'll find all the regular features which originally made SingStar so popular with the masses: Duet, Battle, Pass the Mic and Medley all make a welcome return. Judging by the tracklist however, SingStar Anthems seems tailor made for the ladies (we figure the blokes have had their lot with SingStar Rocks!).

While there is no information on the official site just yet, it would pay to check in a little closer to the release date, which is currently 4th August... at which stage you'll be able to grab a few friends, reach for the diva within and belt out some classic tracks – both old and new. We will be doing just that when we bring you the review next month. In the meantime, why not check out the screens and tracklist below, perhaps dig out an old album or two and warm up those vocal cords in preparation?

Tracklist:

  • Queen - Radio Ga Ga
  • Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart
  • Take That featuring Lulu - Relight My Fire
  • Cher - If I Could Turn Back Time
  • Steps - Deeper Shade of Blue
  • Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)
  • Candi Station - Young Hearts Run Free
  • Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive
  • Bananarama - I Heard A Rumour
  • Pussycat Dolls - Don't Cha
  • Leann Rimes - Can't Fight the Moonlight
  • Donna Summer - I Feel Love
  • Bucks Fizz - Making Your Mind Up
  • The Weather Girls - It's Raining Men
  • Ultra Nate - Free
  • Scissor Sisters - Laura
  • Kim Wilde - Kids in America
  • Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody
  • Girl Aloud - Biology
  • Charlotte Church - Crazy Chick
