WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2006

Developer: Yuke's; Publisher: THQ
Preview by Gunner (29 November 2005)

IN THIS CORNER WE have WWE Smackdown and the challenger: RAW... Let's get ready to rumble! A Christmas feast of wrestling is about to hit the shelves and we have all the news from ringside.

Potentially WWE Smackdown! vs RAW 2006 will be the best wrestling game yet, with fans being treated to a host of options and match types. More importantly this game will deliver some awesome-looking graphics, with considerable work being put into motion capture and character development. The first game in the series: WWE Smackdown! vs RAW sold around two million copies, so a huge amount of interest has been generated for this latest release.

Realism has been a key focus for the developers and this is borne out through the new stamina system. Go for broke early on in the game and you risk running out of puff in the later stages of a match. This additional tactical challenge will be a welcome addition to the genre, elevating the game beyond being "just another fighting title".

WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2006 will also ship with a two-season game mode, where the story evolves as you play more matches. Wrestling is just not all about the fights; in fact a lot of the sports "performance" is about the out-of-ring rivalries and dramas.

WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2006 is due for release on 2nd December (PS2) and 15th December (PSP).
