"GIT AWAY WITH YA man, it's dat nancy boy in a girlie dress wid a sword. Seems he cannae git enough of me on Cartoon Network and now he has to be onto console as well!? - Mad Scotsman
Yes, our brooding Samurai has at last made his way onto the console with the soon to be released Samurai Jack: The Shadow of Aku. Developed by Sega and distributed by Atari this game casts you in the role of Samurai Jack who with his trusty sword, ninja stars and bow must seek out the portals of time to find his way back to his people.
Samurai Jack is a very popular cartoon, and not surprising as it combines some stunning but simplistic artwork and wry humour to tell a tale of one mans struggle to overcome evil.
The game itself pits gamers against some of the familiar 'beasties?of the cartoon series including the Mad Scotsman, Mad Jack, and Beetle Drones. Players are taken on a journey through a burning village, Aku city and beyond. Jack will interact with the environment, by dodging fireballs, busting doors and cutting ropes to progress across the 24 levels of the game.
All are rendered in the distinctive style of the series, with brash colours and almost childish renditions of the characters. The minimalistic nature of the graphics are one of the major attractions have been expertly transferred onto the game console and with the original voice characters fans of the series are in for a real treat.
Features include: -
- 24 levels that span 4 unique realms, from an ancient village and massive forests to Aku city.
- Defeat enemies with (or in) Sakai Mode, slow-motion action.
- 25 signature Jack combat moves, plus 3 elemental Swords, Throwing Stars and a Bow and Arrow.
- Select from 3 difficulty levels to match your gameplay experience.
- Fight against well-known Samurai Jack foes such as Aku, the Scotsman and Mad Jack as well as 25 other unique enemies.
- Interactive environments-cut ropes, destroy crates, blast open doors, create new pathways.
- Puzzle solving and platform-style elements add depth and variety to the gameplay experience.
- Worked with the creator, artists, voice actors, and composer from the show to create an authentic Samurai Jack experience.
Expect to see this game released around 11th June here in New Zealand. "Go on boy, och, you cannae resist it!
