ONE TOUR OF DUTY just wasn't enough for us at Gameplanet. We enjoyed Vietcong so much that the news of an expansion pack for this excellent game has us pretty excited. Details are still very sketchy on exactly what will be in the pack, but the game's makers have assured us that fans' comments and suggestions have been listened to. So hopefully we won't have more of the torturous night fighting or tunnel rat sequences of the game; some tasty daylight recon and combat missions through the jungle will do us just fine.

What we do know is that we will get seven new missions as well as eight extra multi-player maps. Best of all is that all the single player maps are going to be playable in co-op multi-player mode, although we don't know if it is possible to play the entire single player campaign co-operatively or just individual missions.

Weapon enhancements include bayonetes, machetes and six new guns - again details are scarce but we do know that a Browning .50 caliber will make an appearance, as will Claymore mines. We also are going to get to see more of the F4 Phantoms and new will be the in-game presence of B52 bombers and F-105 Thunderchief 'planes. Hopefully they will be accurate with their fire missions, because we rather imagine getting bombed by these planes will hurt.

Some graphical enhancements have been revealed, with the most exciting being the presence of tall grass in the environment. Promised is the ability for enemy and friend to use this grass as concealment, allowing more opportunities for ambushes. Mostly minor tweaks are the order of the day, not any radical engine overhaul. This might disappoint some but the engine supported the best in game jungle we have seen yet so far so it doesn't worry us terribly. Given that no official screenshots have been released, we have included a few from the base game to be indicative of what we expect the pack will show us. This expansion pack is due to hit our shelves this month, so you can rest assured we will be champing at the bit to get this in our hands and reviewed.
